Crews and Tango Gay Club Back up and Running

It's been awhile since I've gone to Crews & Tango since it last shut down about 2 years ago. At first the word on the streets were that Crews had closed its doors temporarily for renovation. A year passed, and then I hear that Crews was shut down by the City of Toronto due to some illegal issues that arise within the club. From there on in, the thought was that it was the end for Crews! Then out of no where, I get an ad about a show happening at Crews. I was totally confused! I had to find out if it was really true-if Crews was back up and running!

Ladies and Gents...Crews & Tango re-opens!!

I had just flew into Toronto for 4 days the other week and I can officially tell you, yes, Crews is back!

It was great being back at Crews, and of course watching their Queens perform on stage! On the night I went, I managed to catch Heroine Marks and Honey Brown performing. Although I expected to catch Divine, who in the past was always there, I didn't see her at all. I literally feel in love with Honey Brown! She was gorgeous and her performance on stage was astounding! I am officially a fan! Crews didn't change up much though, they still had their back room set up as the karaoke lounge, and the upstairs as the dance floor. I went upstairs with my girlfriends, and we started dancing to the mixes of Reggaetons that the DJ was spinning.

In the past, Crews was always jammed with more guys than girls, but on this night it was the opposite! Don't get me wrong and think I'm complaining-Oh no,hehe,Not At All! I Loved it! I Love my ladies! Well the night went amazing and Crews never seems to disappoint me! You can find Crews & Tango on 508 Church Street in Toronto. Dr. Sketchy Burlesque Life Drawings

I first heard of Dr. Sketchy when I was still in College doing the 9-5pm life drawings as a student. I was told of an underground gig on Queen West where I could go do life drawings-the unconventional way! At the time when it popped up on the scene, it was known as this kind of artsy life drawing/burlesque stripping joint-kind of a taboo underground scene.

Over the years, Dr. Sketchy has expanded and popularized itself becoming now known as a life-drawing event that exists in numerous cities from London, New York, Toronto, North Carolina, Denver, Los Angeles, to Philadelphia. What makes Dr. Sketchy unique is that it takes on an alternative approach to traditional life drawing, by incorporating burlesque and cabaret to circus performers and contortionists. Believe me, this was real! When I was walking by Times Square, three of these guys were all standing on the street corner hustling these condoms. But not just any condoms-they had Obama, Hilary and even Palin! It was hilarious! I was about to grab one when one of the guys stopped me and said, "it's $10"! Yea right- it was kitschy and funny but I wasn't going to fall for the scam.

"Flashdancers", NYC

One of things on my list to do for NYC was to go watch a Burlesque show. Sadly though, I didn't have enough time to go see one. However, I did manage to go to "Flashdancers"; a gentlemen's club, or better known as a stripclub. Located right at 1674 Broadway (Bet. 52nd & 53rd St.) just a few blocks from Times Square, it's basically walkable from all hotel points. How did I hear about "Flashdancers"? Well, it was advertised on every New York cab that was on the road-trust me, you couldn't miss it!

My partner and I decided to check out "Flashdancers" since it was only a 10 minute walk from where our hotel was. When we got there, we had to pay a $10 cover fee to get in. Once we got in I immediately asked the bouncers where the Ladies room was and rushed for it right away. When I walked inside, I found myself instead in the wardrobe room. There were about 7 strippers all rushing around the room getting their dresses and shoes on. There was a make-up artist and a hair stylist fixing up all the girls. There were mirrors EVERYWHERE-it was just SO GLAMOROUS with all the fancy dresses, wigs and makeup kits! I had to walk through the girls just to get to the toilet stall. Sorry guys, your washroom is on the other side and you don't get to walk through the wardrobe room!

When I came back out of the washroom I headed straight for the bar. The bar was placed in the center of the club, so basically where ever you sat, your back was never faced towards the stage. There was also a Sushi bar where you could order sushi to eat, but the food was outrageously expensive! The stage itself was like a catwalk. There was always more than 2 girls on stage strutting their stuff. But that's all they did-strut! None of them danced or did anything really fancy but you know what- ALL the girls were gorgeous, so I didn't really mind! I moved over from the bar to the seating area right at the stage and let me tell you this, it has got to be the BEST seating area in the house! Word of advice though, you better have bills on you to tip if you're going to sit there! The DJ played some very good music and had an awesome sense of humor! He kept yelling into the crowd "Look at all these virgins! Look at at those natural breasts"!lol! The club also had two private rooms, one called the "Blue Room" and the other "The Champagne Room". The waitress told me it would be $625 for the "Blue Room"/hr and $1050 for "The Champagne Room"/hr. I was appalled when I heard the prices! I asked the waitress, "Well with it being that price, what exactly happens in the rooms?"...and her answer was, "Well it's the usual lap-dances and o yea you get free champagne"! Are you kidding me??? That's it?? I'd rather pass! It's not like I'm getting Cristal! Instead I opted for the $20/song lapdance-5 songs with "Rose" -which was AMAZING! 7.8/10

Museum of Sex, New York!

Four years ago when I was still in University doing my degree, I wrote an essay on porn and high art for my Liberal Studies Class. It was during my research that I came across "The Museum of Sex". At first I didn't believe it really existed-but it does! I finally got to go to the museum a few days ago when I was in New York City. I made a MUST-DO list for my trip to NYC and going to the museum was one of my priorities. Located at 233 Fifth Avenue, New York City, it's not hard to miss at all, especially with dildos and vibrators showcasing through its windows. You have to be 18+ to get in with ID and the entrance fee is $16.25US. Unfortunately when I went the museum was under renovation, so alot of sections were closed off and under repair. When you actually enter the gallery, the first show on the first floor is the "Action: Sex And The Moving Image" Show. In this show, you'll come across information detailing and defining taboos, trends, pornography, cinematography, sex icons etc. On the second floor is the museum's permanent collection "Spotlight". In this show you'll come across many archived photos, drawings and private journals. Everything from vintage Disney pornography, artworks from Keith Haring, vintage sex toys and a collection of condoms made from an array of different materials! The show on the third floor is "The Sex Lives of Animals". If you have a Beastiality fetish, this is the PERFECT floor for you. I have to admit though, it was pretty bizarre for me! Especially having videos, pictures and sculptures of animals fucking and masturbating EVERYWHERE around you!!But it was DEFINITELY interesting! Well I took PLENTY of photos when I was there because of course, I kept you guys in mind! So I hope you guys enjoy them!
