Brazilian Waxing

For the longest while I always thought Brazilian waxing was just another term for bikini waxing. But boy was I wrong! I don't remember who exactly told me about the "actual" meaning but let me tell you this- I was glad to know! For those of you who have never heard of this term or was like me and thought it was just another technique of bikini waxing-it's actually when you get your public hair removed by waxing it all off! I know every girl has her preference, whether it be having hair down there, trimmed or go all bare. For many girls, the thought of even doing anything to their hair down there is rather taboo. Some might like the all natural feeling and some might not. I for one, don't mind either-or. But if i had to make a preference, it would be to go all bare. But-I have to admit-I've never ever gone to a place to get a Brazilian wax! BUT I have gotten it done!

It started with a conversation with one of my girlfriend who was telling me she needed to go out and get more wax. I thought she needed to wax her legs but nope- she needed it for her Brazilian waxing. "What? You can do it on your own at home?", I ask her!!! 'Well yea, all you need to do is get the strips and wax and do it at home-plus it doesn't hurt as much as when you're in the salon!", she tells me. She reassured me that doing it at home was best and that the pain would be less intense. Did I go home and do it? Yes I did! The part that got me off guard though was the pain. Okay, I thought when she said less pain- she meant oh maybe a "little bandage" coming off pain-WRONG!! The first 3 strip tears was excruciating and unbearable!!! But... I sucked it up and continued... and guess what...it didn't really hurt after that...I think my pun pun was already numbed out by the first couple of waxes anyways-lol! Well, the first time was an experience for me and I'm glad I did it on my own in my own privacy rather than be in some random salon with a random lady doing it for me.

If you want to give this a try on your own, you can go to your nearest Shoppers Drug Mart and just pick up any waxing packages (preferable the ones for legs since they come with bigger stripes that you can always cut to customize on yourself). Also it would be best to get the wax stripes that heat up on your body rather than the ones you have to pop in the microwave. The microwavable ones scare the crap out of me only because you can easily over heat the wax and can get yourself burnt-ouch! But if would rather go to a professional or salon, one place that's often popular with Brazilian waxing is "The10Spot" (http://www.the10spot.com). They have a few locations around Toronto, one of which is right at 749 Queen street west. On average a Brazilian wax in the city would be around $35. If that's a bit pricey, you can always find a bunch of other waxing places down Yonge st that advertises for $20.
