Buddie's Drag Show

So the other week I went to Buddies in Bad Times Theatre to see my friend perform his act. Many of you know him as Baby Couture and on this night he and Carlotta Carlisle were the main performers. This wasn't an ordinary show by ordinary performers. This was a Drag Queen show.

People tend to assume a drag show is just about gay men dressed in dresses with a wad of makeup on their faces. Well there's more to drag than men in skirts. This is a subculture of its own, with its own pageants, fashion, visage and personality. Usually people conglomerate the queer community as just one group, when really there are sub groups (i.e gays, Lesbians, bisexuals, trans, etc) and I can go even further into more sub-divisions in each sub group. What I am trying to say is that each group is unique in its own way.

I love watching drag performances, something about it just keeps me in awe. These Queens know how to put on their make-ups, dresses and strut their stuff on stage. Plus their personalities are so over the top that you just got to love them for that! In drag performances, you can find Queens dancing, singing, acting, doing skits, improv, comedy, miming, and of course the most popular- impersonations.

Well going back to the show, it was awesome and as always Baby was fantastic!! Well with Crews and Tangos shut down, where else are you going to go see a good drag show? Check out Buddie's site: http://artsexy.ca/ for any upcoming shows, but if you're looking for a drag party-Saturday nights are always a go!
